Oh August, the boys have loved you so much! What a wonderful time they had in Italy. 25 days in total and I got to share seven there with them. I was not ready to come back home at all! I’m always a bit sad at the beginning of September because it means that summer is coming to an end but there are lots of lovely things to remember. We spent a lot of time apart this month but I’m happy the boys have had such a great experience and their Italian has definitely improved.
I’m so late publishing this post this month. The first half of August seems to have disappeared in minutes and with the boys being away I’ve been a bit distracted and this post has gotten delayed which is a shame as I love putting together these rounds ups of our photos and creating a little video each month. Our main highlight of July was our weekend away in Bridlington where we had amazing weather and so much fun by the sea. We also celebrated the milestone of the boys finishing Year 1.
June was a really lovely month for us. I felt like we spent a lot of time outside and it has been good for the boys to be out in the garden instead of being on the tablet or watching tv. We’ve eaten outside, read books outside, played tennis, badminton and frisbee. I think the highlight of the month for me was Ethan losing his first tooth. It felt like such a milestone and he already has the big one growing behind.
I think I’m still in denial that May and half-term are actually over, more than a week down the line I still pining over our sunny days spent mostly outside, not worrying about school, work and stressing over bedtime. Watching the video back that I’ve made, the boys just look like they spent May running […]
April was a bit of a strange month as it felt like it was split into two halves. We had the Easter holiday and lots of rest for the first two weeks and then back to the crazy school routine for the other two. It has been great this month to have more light and I have felt like I have had more energy. With the boys being away I got to rest a lot but I also got lots done like painting our bedroom and the doors and door frames upstairs. I also got the house properly clean for the first time in a long time.
I can’t believe we are a quarter of the way through the year but what with the crazy weather we had at the end of Winter, I’m really ready for it to get a bit warmer now. As I write this Ethan and Oliver are enjoying some Spring sunshine in Germany and have been wearing their beloved shorts and t-shirts at the park the last two days. March was another busy month for us and went by way too fast. I think I can safely say the highlight for all of us was our trip to Bridlington for Mother’s Day weekend.
Does February feel like ages ago or is is it that this final push to Spring feels like it’s taking so long? I’ve finally put together last month’s Snapshots & Scenes post which is a round up of our everyday moments and adventures. Since I bought my new camera last Christmas, I just love capturing our life through a mixture of photos and video, although sometimes it can get tiring and I don’t pick up the camera for a few days, especially when we’re busy with school runs and work. The highlight of February had to be Half-term, just that little break from routine and the non-stop hamster wheel of school, work, bed repeat.
January has been so busy for us what with back to school routine, me teaching over two weekends and one evening, Matteo having his tonsils out and the boys having a great social life and going to two birthday parties. I’ve craved time at home in the warmth and comfort food.
What a busy month December was. It was packed with stuff and just went so fast. I am loving putting together these monthly posts and videos looking back at the past month. I hope the boys will look back on them in years to come especially this one when Christmas was so magical.
I’ve loved putting this month’s video together and I have to say it’s my favourite video so far with some wonderful memories to look back on like going to Clip ‘n Climb for the first time and singing Happy Birthday, plus I got some everyday moments documented like bedtime stories and getting ready for football. We finished off the month with some Christmas magic, twinkly lights and meeting Santa. Click below to watch:
