Kidlo Coding App – A Review

My boys love playing games and watching videos on the iPad although we limit their time on there and they probably only use it once or twice a week. When they were little we had a few educational games on there but they grew out of those so we deleted them. Now they just have a Lego game and a skiing game so when Kidlo asked us to try their coding app I was so pleased to get the boys to try something new and educational and to get them using the iPad for more than watching toy unboxing videos!

Me & Mine Project {April 18}

So just like that we’re into May already!  The boys were in Italy for their Easter Holiday the first two weeks of April and the last two weeks have flown by because we have been back to school runs and normal routine.  If you read my Siblings Project post for April you’ll know that it was tough for us being apart for so long even though we knew the boys were having a great time and were well looked after. It was amazing to be reunited though and to have them back home.

Extra Greens Pesto

We love pasta with pesto in this house. It’s our staple, our go-to meal when we want something quick and easy to prepare, my super quick work lunch. The boys love it with tortellini or gnocchi, Matteo loves it with spaghetti.  When I started cutting out gluten and dairy about two years ago I worried that I would’t be able to eat pesto anymore and if the dairy free alternatives would be tasteless.  Thankfully there are a few that are really nice, of which Sacla is my favourite and on my shopping list every week.

Ten Things I Wish I’d Known About Breastfeeding

Wordpress tells me that this is my 100th blog post so I wanted to make it a special one. One of the topics I haven’t written about yet is breastfeeding. This is because it’s a highly emotive subject, certainly for me and many others, and it’s one of those topics that everyone has an opinion about.  I’m saving my breastfeeding journey for later but today I’m writing a post that I hope will be useful to both expectant and new parents and that will also be an interesting read for others.

How To Keep Your Car In The Best Condition Possible

Owning a car is a costly business. Insurance, road tax, MOT, servicing, repairs, petrol, it all adds up. We only have one car at our house and because I use it for work and the school runs, I am the one that drives it almost every day. When it comes to keeping the car clean and tidy, I’m not the best but in terms of routine maintenance I try my (with help from my partner) hardest to make sure that I keep on top of keeping the car at its best.

The Siblings Project {April 18}

What an amazing month these two have had. My two little travellers!  This month they’ve spent sixteen days away from home visiting Matteo’s parents in Italy and his Sister in Germany. They’ve had a wonderful time and their Italian has come on loads. It’s been tough on us being away from them for so long but knowing that they were happy and safe meant we were less worried about them.  Also knowing that they have always each other makes it easier.

April is C-Section Awareness Month – Can a caesarean birth be a positive experience?

For a long long time I struggled with the fact that I had a caesarean birth, I felt my body had failed, that a woman’s body is made for giving birth naturally and that I couldn’t. I blamed myself for not having enough knowledge around the decisions I made during labour and not knowing how to help myself to progress.  I don’t know exactly when it happened but around the time I got my new job in summer last year I had a revelation of acceptance.

A Spring Homeware Wish List

We finally had our first proper bit of Spring weather yesterday.  I love when the clocks change and we get that extra bit of light in the evenings.  It gives me more energy and motivation to keep on top of jobs in the house.  Since my boys have been away for Easter I have done a big Spring clean of the house and I was able to make a start on the garden yesterday.  It has got me thinking about making the house look really nice and what kind of new homeware pieces I would love to buy.  I’ve picked ten things that I absolutely love.

Snapshots & Scenes from March 18

I can’t believe we are a quarter of the way through the year but what with the crazy weather we had at the end of Winter, I’m really ready for it to get a bit warmer now. As I write this Ethan and Oliver are enjoying some Spring sunshine in Germany and have been wearing their beloved shorts and t-shirts at the park the last two days. March was another busy month for us and went by way too fast.  I think I can safely say the highlight for all of us was our trip to Bridlington for Mother’s Day weekend.
