Hair and Makeup for NYE: Ready, Set, Go! – Guest Post by Brigitte Evans

The holiday fun is here and we’re absolutely delighted to start partying. Well, for the most part. There’s also that crazy panic that starts overtaking us once we realize that we actually have no idea what kind of a look to pick for the New Year’s Eve, nor do we really have the time to spend six hours on getting ready. But dammit, you really want to look good and feel beautiful. Worry not, that’s why we’re here! Ladies, are you ready to bring the glam and show up there looking drop dead gorgeous on NYE? Then read on, because we’ve got some great tips for you right here.

Prep your skin for better makeup

NYE is no time to look tired and sallow, so we want to work on our complexion and make sure to show up there with a radiant face. We recommend that you take about half an hour the evening before your party to exfoliate your face and put on a hydrating sheet mask that will replenish all the moisture and give you that plumpness, or wear an natural overnight mask so you could wake up looking fresh and glowing. Why is all this important for your makeup? Because it actually makes it look better. Soft, exfoliated, hydrated skin will have less texture on it and this will make foundation apply easier and look smoother.

How to make foundation last all night

First, use a good primer and smooth it gently over your face, especially over the parts where you have enlarged pores. After you’ve applied foundation, you can do the baking technique to make everything last and prevent creasing, and after you’re done with your makeup, use a setting spray to fix it in place.

Big hair, don’t care

There’s no better way to bring the glam than big, messy hair. To accomplish this, you can use some good clip in human hair extensions and then curl your hair to give it volume and sassiness. This is the perfect moment to do something fun with your hair, so extensions are a great choice for those ladies who long for that full, thick hairstyle that looks great with almost no effort. Now, you can curl your hair with rollers over night if you want a tight curl, or just grab your curler and make gentle ringlets quickly. Once you’re done, comb through them with your fingers to shake them loose and make them look more natural. Another tip for more volume? Use a texturizing spray and blow dry your hair upside down, and change the way you part your hair.

To make your hairstyle last, we actually recommend a touch of dry shampoo at your roots and some good ol’ hairspray for the length of your hair. Dry shampoo will control the oil and give it that nice lift and keep it voluminous through the night.

Quick, amazing eyeshadow look

You don’t need to be a skilled makeup artist to have amazing eyeshadow. Here’s something quick that’s going to look incredible on any eye shape: grab a blending brush and apply a light matte brown eyeshadow in the crease of your eye with gentle motions. You want a diffused, light look, just a little colour to give you some depth. Once you’re done, find a shimmery shade (gold, bronze, silver, whatever you like) and dab some of it just on the middle of your eyelids using your finger. And you’re done! Now you can put on eyeliner if you want, or wear just mascara, or even put on falsies – it’s up to you!

Scrub your lips

Do a lip scrub to remove all the dry, flaky skin from your lips and apply some quality lip balm to soothe the lips. To make your own lip scrub, simply mix some honey, olive oil, and brown sugar and rub gently with your fingers.

Perfect lipstick application

We recommend wearing a liquid lipstick because they have better lasting power than traditional lipsticks, and we recommend a lip liner, especially if you’re a beginner. Outline your lips and then you don’t have to worry about unevenness. If you make a mistake, don’t worry. You can clean it up with some concealer and a straight brush once the lipstick is dry.

Afford yourself the luxury of some glamour, darlings! It’s New Year’s Eve, you deserve to relax and enjoy your beauty a little! We hope the tips inspire you to wear some great looks and take a lot of selfies.
