Wonder Berry Smoothie Bowl with Erbology

I love smoothies and try and make one every day if I can. It’s a great way for me to get more fruit and vegetables into my diet as I’m not a fan of eating pieces of fruit especially in the winter months. Having them in a smoothie or smoothie bowl means that I can have multiple pieces of fruit with all of the juice and fibre as well as meaning that I am less likely to snack on unhealthier things. I would normally have a smoothie for an afternoon snack to keep me going until lunchtime or as dessert after lunch or dinner.

Erbology approached me to see if I they could send me some of their products to put into a recipe and I thought that a breakfast smoothie bowl would be perfect. It’s exciting to create a new recipe and to get me to try a new breakfast. This smoothie bowl is packed with protein, vitamins, minerals and fibre to set you up for a productive day.

Aronia Powder

I am using Aronia powder in this recipe. The powder is made from whole organic aronia berries (also known as chokeberries) which are rich in antioxidants which are thought to help protect against cancer and heart disease. Aronia berries are also thought to help reduce inflammation and boost the immune system.

Aloe Vera

I am also adding in to Aloe Vera juice. Aloe Vera is known for its cleansing properties so may help to reduce skin breakouts and conditions such as psoriasis. It can also help to ease heartburn. Aloe Vera is one of the only plant sources of vitamin B12 which is amazing for vegetarians and vegans and also contains vitamins C, E and folic acid.

Wonder Berry Smoothie Bowl

To make smoothie bowls for two people:

Ingredients

250g Frozen Berries

1 large banana

Handful red grapes

1 tbsp greek yogurt (I use Oatly)

1 heaped tsp Erbology Aronia Powder

1 heaped tsp hemp protein powder

1 heaped tsp milled flax & seeds

3-4 tbsp Erbology Aloe Vera Juice

250ml apple juice

Method

Add all the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.

You can start by adding 150ml of apple juice if you like your smoothie thicker and then add more liquid if you need to.

I like to put the frozen berries in first and leave for half an hour to defrost a little before adding everything else.

Pour into a bowl and top with granola and fresh fruit of your choice.

Serve and enjoy!

  1. Well this looks absolutely delicious. Smoothie bowls are very popular in Australia and have started to pop up at lots of brunch places, but I have struggled to find them where we live in the UK. We often use Acai berries / powder in our smoothies, but I like the sound of the Aronia powder too. Thanks for sharing this great recipe #KCACOLS

  2. Some really interesting ingredients and I am really tempted to try the granola. The smoothie bowl looks beautiful and so healthy too. Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next time.

  3. I need me some of this! looks delish and so super healthy xx #KCACOLS

    1. Thank you, it’s so nutritious and the protein and granola will keep you going until lunch x

  4. This looks incredibly healthy – and absolutely delicious! I feel guilty now for always running in the mornings making toast and not putting more effort into breakfast. I could definitely do with more nutrients. I will have to try and make more of an effort! #KCACOLS

    1. Overnight oats is a great one to do on a week day when you’re rushing. I always make it the night before and heat it up as porridge so it literally takes 2-3 minutes to sort in the morning. At the weekend I make something like this or granola 🙂
